Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer with a blend of technical documentation expertise, SharePoint administration, and development capability. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing technical documentation while designing and maintaining SharePoint-based knowledge management solutions. The contractor will partner with technical and business teams to deliver clear, user-friendly, and scalable documentation that supports enterprise systems and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation including user guides, admin guides, and SOPs.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
- Design and maintain SharePoint sites, libraries, navigation, and metadata structures.
- Build and enhance SharePoint solutions using lists, libraries, web parts, and workflows.
- Manage document lifecycle processes including version control, governance, and archival.
- Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines.
- Collaborate with business and technical SMEs to gather requirements and validate content.
- Participate in Agile/SDLC processes to ensure documentation aligns with project delivery.
- Create diagrams, workflows, and visuals to enhance content usability.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and leverage Microsoft 365 tools including Copilot.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in technical writing or documentation development, supporting enterprise systems, applications, or technical teams.
Technical Skills: Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong expertise in SharePoint administration (site design, libraries, governance).
- Experience with SharePoint development (pages, lists, workflows, integrations).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with Agile or SDLC methodologies.
- Experience with diagramming tools such as Visio.
- Knowledge of information architecture and content design principles.
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve documentation efficiency.
