Our client is seeking an
AS400 / RPG Technical Lead to support and maintain critical enterprise applications in a high-impact production environment. This is a
6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong path for long-term growth and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hands-on support for AS400/IBM i applications, including troubleshooting production issues and resolving batch job failures
- Lead and mentor a team of developers (including offshore resources) while setting technical standards and best practices
- Act as a point of escalation for system outages, bugs, and performance issues
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to ensure system stability and continuous improvement
- Support ongoing modernization efforts as legacy systems evolve
Required Skills- Strong experience with AS400 / IBM i application development and support
- Expertise in RPGLE and RPG Free
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and work in high-pressure environments
- Experience using Jira or similar tools with project coordination exposure
- Proven technical leadership and mentorship, including offshore teams
Qualifications- 5+ years of AS400 / IBM i development experience
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in mission-critical environments where uptime is essential
Environment- Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite)
- Minimal travel (infrequent, if any)
- On-call support as needed for critical systems

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
