Position: PostgreSQL Database Administrator (Postgres DBA)
Clearance: Active TS/SCI Clearance Required
Salary: $160,000 - $170,000 annually
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (Postgres DBA) to support mission-critical government programs by managing, optimizing, and securing enterprise PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability architectures within secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL database environments.
Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize reliability and efficiency.
Perform database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery planning.
Manage database security, user access, and data integrity.
Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolution to production incidents.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments and database migrations.
Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
Active TS/SCI Clearance.
8 12 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning.
Experience with database backup and recovery tools, replication, and high-availability solutions.
Proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems.
Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries and stored procedures.
Knowledge of database monitoring, automation, and scripting using Bash or Python.
Experience with Git and database change management processes.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Desired Skills
Experience with PostgreSQL clustering technologies such as Patroni, Pgpool-II, or streaming replication.
Familiarity with cloud database platforms including AWS RDS for PostgreSQL or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements.
Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs.
