Overview

TalentFish is casting a line for a Senior Okta Engineer to join a growing IAM team in a highly visible role. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire, fully remote opportunity where you will own the Okta environment end to end from architecture and integrations to governance, automation, and operational stability.

This role exists to support, enhance, and secure the organization s Identity and Access Management (IAM) ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on Okta administration, enterprise integrations, automation, and compliance. You ll ensure secure access, regulatory alignment, and a seamless user experience across cloud, SaaS, and on-prem environments. Experience in regulated or healthcare environments and Okta certifications are highly valued.

What You ll Bring (Ideal Experience)

• 8+ years of IAM experience, including 5+ years of hands-on Okta engineering and administration

• Deep expertise in Okta Workforce Identity, including SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management (LCM), and Universal Directory

• Strong knowledge of SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SCIM

• Proven experience integrating Okta with platforms such as Microsoft 365, AWS, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and custom applications

• Hands-on experience with Okta APIs, SDKs, Workflows, inline hooks, event hooks, and custom expressions

• Strong understanding of identity governance concepts including provisioning, deprovisioning, RBAC, and least-privilege access

• Experience working with Active Directory, Azure AD, and LDAP

• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript

• Experience supporting high-availability, production IAM environments

• Strong troubleshooting skills across authentication, federation, and provisioning issues

• Experience supporting audits, evidence collection, and identity control validation

• Ability to monitor Okta System Logs and integrate with SIEM platforms for ITDR and security monitoring

• Experience designing least-privilege admin roles and governing Okta API token usage

• VPN and RADIUS integration experience

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments

Preferred Experience

• Okta certifications (Administrator, Consultant, or higher)

• Workforce and Partner Identity implementations

• Familiarity with Zero Trust security models

• Experience with IaC and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD)

• Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST

• Experience in hybrid or multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

• Exposure to IGA or PAM tools such as SailPoint, CyberArk, or Delinea

• Healthcare industry experience

What You ll Do

• Own and administer the Okta IAM environment, ensuring security, stability, and scalability

• Design and implement secure authentication and authorization flows across cloud, SaaS, and on-prem applications

• Build and maintain Okta integrations, workflows, and API-driven automations

• Monitor system logs and security events, integrating Okta with SIEM platforms for proactive detection

• Lead incident root cause analysis and drive platform improvements to prevent recurrence

• Design and enforce least-privilege access models and administrative governance

• Support audit activities, security reviews, and compliance initiatives

• Partner closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams to execute IAM strategy

• Lead IAM design discussions and mentor junior engineers

• Assist with ongoing security posture and compliance reviews

Compensation & Employment Details

• Hourly Rate: $70 $82/hr, depending on experience and qualifications
