Locomotive Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring diesel locomotives operate at peak performance through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and field service support.
Hours and Pay
- Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
- Schedule: Full-time (field-based responsibilities included)
- Location: Houston, TX, and surrounding areas

Daily Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled locomotive maintenance and repair on diesel and electrical systems
- Conduct fueling, sanding, and daily inspections to ensure operational readiness
- Execute preventive maintenance procedures, including cleaning, oiling, and system adjustments
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems
- Travel locally to perform field service maintenance using company vehicles
- Complete visual inspections of locomotives and maintenance equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logbooks, including work order completion
- Collaborate with team members and communicate equipment issues and operational updates
- Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with special projects as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in diesel engine or electrical repair
- Strong knowledge of basic mechanics and machine testing procedures
- Understanding of equipment maintenance and repair operations
- Ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work independently and manage maintenance schedules and priorities
