Job Title: CAD Drafter (Life Safety & Low-Voltage Systems)
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated CAD Drafter to support our engineering and design team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining accurate construction drawings and technical documentation for life safety, fire protection, and low-voltage specialty systems.
This is a critical on-site support role requiring a strong technical foundation in AutoCAD and a sharp eye for detail. Working under the guidance of senior designers, you will produce clean floor plans, riser diagrams, electrical interconnection layouts, and submittal packages while maintaining organized project records and as-built documentation. Key Responsibilities
Drawing Production & Drafting
Construction Documents: Create and revise precise architectural and technical construction drawings under the supervision of senior design staff.
Specialized Diagrams: Produce detailed floor plan layouts, riser diagrams, electrical interconnection drawings, and installation termination sheets.
Submittal Packages: Prepare comprehensive project submittal documentation, including compiling product data sheets and organizing calculation records.
Record Keeping & Document Control
File Management: Maintain highly organized project drawing files, directories, and revision logs.
As-Built Records: Track, update, and finalize as-built drawings based on field markups and redline feedback.
Team Support: Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure all deliverables meet strict quality and scheduling standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required (technical degree or coursework in Computer Drafting & Design preferred).
Experience Baseline: Professional industry experience in drafting or construction documentation (experience within electrical, mechanical, or low-voltage construction strongly preferred).
Technical Mastery:
oProven proficiency in AutoCAD (2014 or newer).
oStrong working knowledge of Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Core Competencies: Exceptional organizational skills and acute attention to detail; strong communication and teamwork abilities; ability to thrive in an on-site, collaborative environment.
Preferred Attributes
Prior drafting experience supporting fire alarm systems, security integration, access control, or other low-voltage specialty systems.
Familiarity with electrical wiring principles and construction drawing conventions.
