About This Role

A leading automotive manufacturer is hiring an Environmental Engineer for its Environmental Planning group, based in Georgetown, KY and supporting manufacturing and non-manufacturing sites on the highly regulated west coast (California and Oregon). You will evaluate proposed operational changes and capital projects for environmental impact (stormwater, wastewater, chemical, and more), develop permit strategy, complete permit applications, support environmental standards and an environmental management system, and monitor regulatory change to keep sites in compliance. The role is On-site in Georgetown, KY, open to non-local candidates / relocation, and travels up to 40%, primarily to the west coast.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental standard and policy implementation across sites
  • Perform environmental impact assessments for proposed operational changes (stormwater, wastewater, air, and chemical impacts), and provide direction and feedback to requestors
  • Develop and propose permit strategy to support proposed projects and operational changes
  • Complete permit applications on behalf of manufacturing and logistics/distribution sites
  • Support environmental management system (EMS) requirements and confirm understanding by local environmental support teams
  • Partner with production-engineering groups on site changes, modifications, and launches that carry capital investment and require environmental assessment
  • Evaluate every environmental impact (stormwater, wastewater, chemical, and others) and secure the appropriate permits
  • Monitor regulatory changes (with heavy emphasis on California) and ensure ongoing compliance

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (Environmental, Biology, Chemical, or similar)
  • Environmental engineering, planning, or compliance experience
  • Experience performing environmental impact assessments for operational changes (stormwater, wastewater, air, and chemical)
  • Experience developing permit strategy and completing permit applications for sites
  • Familiarity with environmental standards, policy implementation, and an environmental management system (EMS)
  • Ability to support highly regulated west coast operations (California and Oregon) and monitor regulatory change
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% (primarily west coast) and work from the Georgetown, KY base (open to non-local candidates)
  • Preferred: automotive-industry or manufacturing environmental experience; California and/or Oregon regulations experience
