Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect, Infrastructure
Client locations: Hillsboro, OR, or San Jose, CA (Onsite)
The senior cloud engineer/architect, Infrastructure position is responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, coordination, and maturity of technologies supporting a complex corporate infrastructure in a multi-tenant hybrid cloud environment.
Job Summary:
Provide technical leadership for systems and services on multiple cloud platforms to include Azure and AWS
Lead the architecture, design, and build of complex cloud environments to ensure performance, scalability, security, and supportability in alignment with industry best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud strategies and roadmaps
Use associated software products including installing, configuring, and testing system software
Troubleshoot, analyze, resolve, and document problems and service impacting events; recommend and implement approved solutions, ensuring high availability and reliability
Research, evaluate, and recommend cloud services and tools to optimize infrastructure and application performance
Primary Responsibilities:
Automates the build, maintains, and supports the infrastructure environment throughout the full lifecycle process, proactively recommending and documenting options to improve the environment
Deploy applications, systems, and services into complex multi-tenant hybrid cloud environments
Define system and service monitors and alerts, identify and resolve performance and capacity issues proactively
Develops and/or leads the development of low level and as-built architecture design documentation
Create and maintain documentation of all system builds and modifications
Partner with IT support groups to help perform root cause analysis of issues and identify solutions
Recommend and adjust system configurations to optimize system performance and functionality
Work within a change control environment, following organizational change policy, documenting, and scheduling all changes prior to implementation
Mentor and guide fellow Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Occasional participation in after-hours systems implementations (as necessary), and part of after-hours support rotation
Assist in planning and participate disaster recovery procedures
Experience and Education Requirement:
Minimum 7 years' experience providing solutions-based data processing experience with a concentration in cloud-based systems engineering, operating systems and network design/configuration and management
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, storage, and security technologies
Experience engineering with enterprise Cloud Services to include Azure and AWS
Experience and in-depth knowledge of datacenter technologies and Server Operating systems to include Microsoft server environments, experience with Linux Operating systems is a plus
Experience with recovery and high availability methodologies and technologies supporting an enterprise-wide environment
Experience analyzing assigned specifications, planning, engineering, and implementation of infrastructure solutions
Experience in the development and configuration of monitoring and alerting thresholds for infrastructure services
Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
Proficiency with infrastructure as a code as well as containerization and orchestration are a plus
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, effectively managing a variety of responsibilities
Strong business communication skills; able to write/speak clearly and professionally for a variety of audiences
Proven ability to educate, mentor and instruct fellow team members on cloud services and technologies
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders
Analytical problem solving skills; ability to resolve complex issues with minimal direction
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365 applications including Visio
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred, or 5 years of relevant experinece in lieu of Bachelor's degree
Certification/License (mandatory): One or more of the following up to date certifications; AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect
