AI Engineer / Applied AI Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is looking for an AI Engineer/Applied AI Developer in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on development skills, a passion for building AI-powered prototypes, and a curiosity for exploring advanced AI capabilities. This candidate should be a problem solver with excellent critical thinking skills and a solid foundation in Python programming.

REQUIREMENTS:
* To be considered for this position, candidates must have experience in a similar role, or they must possess significant knowledge, experience, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities listed
* Relevant education and/or training will be considered a plus

Must-Have Technical Skills:
* Advanced proficiency in Java
* Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python
* Ability to quickly build working proof-of-concepts
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Experience with prompt engineering and function calling in large language models
* Experience integrating APIs and working with structured and unstructured data
* Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows

Nice-to-Have Technical Skills:
* Experience building Agentic AI solutions, conversational AI chatbots, or summarization tools
* Experience with OpenAI or similar large language model frameworks
* Familiarity with tools like Streamlit, FastAPI, or Flask for building demo applications

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
