Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer - Waterloo, IA
Pay: 37 an hr

We are seeking a Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations and supplier quality initiatives within a fast-paced production environment. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to drive product quality, resolve complex issues, and implement long-term corrective actions that improve operational performance.
Responsibilities

Lead investigations and resolution efforts for supplier quality, manufacturing, and customer-related issues, focusing on root cause identification and permanent corrective actions.

Support quality planning activities for components and assemblies, including supplier changes, resourcing projects, cost reduction initiatives, and current production improvements.

Conduct design reviews, print reviews, and process assessments to ensure product quality and manufacturability.

Utilize quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, SPC, MSA, Gage R&R, capability studies, and statistical analysis to identify and prevent quality concerns.

Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives and strengthen quality performance.

Lead supplier quality improvement activities and facilitate cross-functional problem-solving efforts.

Analyze engineering data, technical documentation, and product drawings to support quality and manufacturing objectives.

Monitor project timelines, coordinate with suppliers, and support implementation of engineering and quality improvements.

Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.

Support ongoing continuous improvement efforts related to quality systems, manufacturing processes, and supplier performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Quality, Business, Data Analytics, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.

entry level candidates with relevant internship, co-op, academic project, or manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.

Experience or knowledge of supplier quality, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or process improvement.

Understanding of quality management principles and tools, including FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, MSA, and capability studies.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and grow within an engineering environment.

Work Environment

Full-time onsite position in a manufacturing setting.

Collaborative team environment with exposure to engineering, manufacturing, and supplier operations.

Opportunity to work directly on the production floor and gain hands-on experience supporting quality and process improvement initiatives.
