Cloud/Application Architect – Health Plan Cloud Migration

Position Summary

The Cloud/Application Architect will validate the design and implementation of the organization’s cloud migration strategy for enterprise health plan systems. This role will evaluate the current plan - target cloud architecture and migration roadmap – to ensure that it optimizes scalability, performance, security, and compliance with healthcare industry standards. The architect will collaborate with technology, security, application, data, and business stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from on-premises systems to cloud-native services.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy & Architecture

• Validate the end-to-end cloud migration strategy for core health plan applications, including enrollment, claims, provider data, care management, and member experience platforms.
• Design cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) that support high availability, disaster recovery, and scalable performance.
• Create reference architectures, design patterns, and best practices for hybrid and cloud-native systems.

Security, Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure cloud designs comply with HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, and other healthcare privacy and security regulations.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to define identity management, encryption, data protection, and zero-trust architecture requirements.
• Monitor risks and ensure mitigation strategies are included in architecture plans.

Cloud Migration Planning & Execution

• Validate migration roadmaps, timelines, sequencing plans, cutover strategies, and resource requirements.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with business leaders, application owners, and data teams to ensure architectural alignment with organizational goals.
• Lead technical workshops, design sessions, and cloud-readiness briefings.
• Mentor engineering teams and build cloud competency across the organization.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on cloud trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
