Title: Workday Adaptive Planning Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Workday Adaptive Planning Engineer to design, develop, and maintain financial planning and forecasting solutions using Workday Adaptive Planning. This role partners closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, and Finance Systems teams to translate planning and budgeting requirements into scalable, well-governed Adaptive Planning models.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the technical performance and reliability of the Adaptive Planning environment, including model design, data integrations with Workday Financials, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial planning data.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain Workday Adaptive Planning models, sheets, and dimensions to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Build and maintain integrations between Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning, ensuring accurate and reliable data synchronization.
• Develop and optimize formulas, calculated accounts, allocations, and modeled sheets to ensure optimal performance and maintainability.
• Manage planning data accuracy, refresh schedules, and reconciliation processes, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies between systems.
• Collaborate with FP&A stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, evaluating design options and tradeoffs.
• Configure and maintain security, user access, and workflow processes within Adaptive Planning.
• Assess and test the impact of Workday and Adaptive Planning semiannual releases, implementing regression testing strategies for models and integrations.
• Develop dashboards and reports to provide financial stakeholders with visibility into budget performance, plan-versus-actual results, and forecast accuracy.
• Document model architecture, integrations, data flows, and configurations to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
• Provide production support during critical financial planning cycles, including month-end close, forecasting, and annual budgeting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial planning processes, data governance, and system efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring, developing, and maintaining Workday Adaptive Planning solutions, including models, sheets, dimensions, formulas, and allocations.
• Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and related FP&A processes.
• Experience integrating Workday Adaptive Planning with Workday Financials or other enterprise financial systems, including loading, validating, and reconciling actuals.
• Working knowledge of the Workday Financials data model, including ledger accounts, worktags, company structures, and cost centers, and how these components map into planning models.
• Experience with Office Connect, Adaptive Matrix reporting, and dashboard development.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex data and integration issues.
• Ability to translate financial business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicate design decisions effectively.
• Experience supporting financial planning applications during critical business cycles, including budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Workday Adaptive Planning Pro Certification.
• Workday Finance Pro Certification or equivalent Workday Financials experience, particularly with Financial Data Model (FDM) and Projects.
• Experience with Adaptive Custom Cloud Loader (CCL).
• Experience developing or maintaining Workday integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) and Core Connectors.
• Experience with Workday Studio or Workday Extend.
• Prior experience supporting financial planning systems within financial services or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of financial data governance, internal controls, and data quality management.
• Experience optimizing financial planning models and improving system performance.
