Backend Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City, UT that is seeking a Backend Developer.

Summary:
This role focuses on building secure, scalable backend infrastructure to handle sensitive data governance, records management, and compliance reporting, ensuring adherence to privacy protections while empowering government entities with intuitive tools. This position is ideal for a developer passionate about public sector technology, data security, and cloud-based solutions. We are seeking a candidate in the SLC area for this fully onsite role.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Database Expertise: 5+ years of experience with strong hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL via AWS RDS) and NoSQL solutions (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB); Skills in database design, optimization, indexing, and ORM tools (e.g., SQLAlchemy, Sequelize)
* AWS Proficiency: 3+ years of in-depth knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, S3 for storage, VPC for networking, IAM for access management, and CloudWatch for monitoring
* Backend Development: 3+ years of experience with server-side languages such as Python (preferred for AI integrations), Node.js, or Java; Proficiency in building RESTful/GraphQL APIs
* Experience with data warehousing for reporting
* Experience with AWS security tools (e.g., KMS for encryption, GuardDuty) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to ensure compliant, scalable deployments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
