Retail Analytics Lead Shopper & Loyalty Insights

We are looking for a highly analytical professional to partner closely with Customer Development, Shopper Marketing, and Analytics stakeholders to turn key business questions into clear analytical approaches and actionable insights using Kroger Collaborative Cloud data (84.51 Collaborative Cloud).

This role is focused on hands-on analysis of shopper transaction, basket-level, and loyalty data to uncover insights that support promotion effectiveness, shopper behavior, basket composition, assortment, pricing, and commercial execution. The ideal candidate brings strong technical and analytical capabilities, but just as importantly, knows how to translate complex findings into clear, decision-ready insights for business partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Customer Development, Shopper Marketing, and Analytics stakeholders to translate priority business questions into clear analytical approaches and insights using a Collaborative Cloud data
  • Lead hands-on analysis of shopper transaction, basket-level, and loyalty data to uncover insights related to:
    • Promotion performance and optimization
    • Shopper behavior and trip dynamics
    • Basket composition, cross-purchase, and halo effects
    • Assortment and pricing effectiveness
  • Synthesize complex analytical findings into clear, decision-ready insights that inform Kroger joint business planning, shopper marketing, and commercial execution
  • Collaborate with business partners and customer analytics teams to ensure consistent business logic, KPI definitions, and analytical assumptions when working with retailer transaction data
  • Develop visual outputs and narratives, including tables, charts, dashboards, and slide-ready summaries, that effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Act as a thought partner to the business by proactively identifying new analytical opportunities within KCC data to answer emerging business questions
  • Support knowledge transfer and documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and findings to ensure continuity

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience delivering end-to-end analytics projects for business stakeholders, from problem definition through insight delivery
  • Experience analyzing retailer transaction and loyalty data to drive commercial decisions
  • Experience creating data visualizations and summaries using tools such as Power BI, Excel, or similar
  • Experience working with Customer Development, Sales, or Shopper Marketing teams
  • Experience in consumer goods, retail, or related industries

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with retailer transaction, loyalty, or shopper analytics platforms preferred
  • Experience working with shopper marketing or joint business planning use cases
  • Familiarity with syndicated data such as Circana or Nielsen and how it complements retailer transaction data
  • Experience working in a project-based or consulting-style role with defined timelines and deliverables

What You Need to Succeed

  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude with the ability to focus analysis on business impact and decision-making, not just outputs
  • 6+ years of experience working with large-scale transaction or shopper-level datasets, ideally within retail or consumer goods environments
  • Hands-on experience performing analysis using cloud-based analytics environments and modern data tools such as SQL and Python
  • Proven experience translating retailer loyalty, transaction, and basket data into actionable commercial insights
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain analytical findings and implications to non-technical stakeholders
  • High intellectual curiosity, structured problem-solving skills, and comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
  • Ability to manage work independently within a defined project timeline of 26 weeks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners

Core Skills

  • Advanced analytical skills using SQL and/or Python to manipulate and analyze large transaction-level datasets
  • Strong understanding of shopper analytics concepts, including trip missions, basket analysis, penetration, frequency, and cross-purchase behavior
  • Experience designing analytical approaches to answer promotion, pricing, assortment, and shopper marketing business questions
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical hypotheses and structured analyses
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills, with experience creating clear, compelling, and executive-ready outputs
