Job Title: Senior Playwright Test Automation Engineer (Contract)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Playwright Test Automation Engineer to lead the modernization of our test automation infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in architectural design and implementation of automation frameworks, with a proven track record of successfully migrating legacy test suites from Selenium to Playwright.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining the migration strategy, breaking down monolithic Selenium frameworks, and building a highly scalable, parallelized, and robust Playwright automation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Framework Migration: Lead the technical strategy and execution of migrating our existing legacy test automation suites from Selenium (Java/Python/C#) to Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).
Architecture & Design: Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance end-to-end (E2E) automation frameworks using Playwright.
CI/CD Integration: Integrate Playwright test suites into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (e.g., ADO) to support shift-left testing.
Performance Optimization: Optimize test execution times by leveraging Playwright features like parallel execution, sharding, tracing, and multi-browser execution.
Mentorship & Best Practices: Establish coding standards, review automation code, and mentor team members on Playwright best practices, asynchronous handling, and modern QA methodologies.
Collaboration: Partner closely with Developers, Product Managers, and DevOps engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage, reliable reporting, and fast feedback loops.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Software Development in Test (SDET) or Test Automation Engineering, with at least 2+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience using Playwright.
Migration Track Record: Demonstrated experience successfully migrating large-scale UI test suites from Selenium to Playwright.
Languages: Strong proficiency in modern programming languages, specifically TypeScript or JavaScript (experience with Java/Python from legacy frameworks is a huge plus).
Advanced Playwright Knowledge: Deep understanding of Playwright-specific features, including the Page Object Model (POM), fixtures, auto-waiting, network intercepting/mocking, storage state (for authentication sharing), and visual regression testing.
API Testing: Proven experience combining UI automation with API testing within the same framework to optimize setup and teardown phases.
CI/CD Expertise: Solid experience configuring and running automated tests inside Docker containers and CI/CD pipelines.
Troubleshooting: Strong debugging skills utilizing Playwright Trace Viewer, UI Mode, and network logs to eliminate test flakiness.
