About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Calypso Developer to design, develop, customize, and support scalable trading solutions for Capital Markets operations. The role involves building and enhancing Calypso applications, developing enterprise integrations, supporting cloud-native initiatives, and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performing solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, customize, and support Calypso applications, workflows, extensions, and integrations across asset classes including FX, FX Options, Interest Rate Products, Commodities, Credit Derivatives, and Exchange-Traded Derivatives.
  • Develop enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, enterprise application servers, and messaging technologies.
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations between Calypso and external platforms, including DTCC SDR, MarkitWire, Bloomberg TOMS, SEF platforms, AcadiaSoft, TriResolve, WebICE, SWIFT, General Ledger systems, FedWire, and ACH.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS, containerization technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, database structures, ETL processes, and enterprise data integrations supporting trading operations, regulatory reporting, risk management, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with business users, quantitative analysts, risk management, operations, architects, and development teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Support production releases, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve platform performance, stability, and resiliency.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, code reviews, modernization initiatives, and mentoring of junior developers.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, innovation, cloud modernization, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of enterprise software development experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on Calypso development in Capital Markets environments.
  • Strong experience customizing and extending the Calypso platform, including workflows, APIs, trade lifecycle processing, back-office operations, and enterprise integrations.
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Java
    • Spring Framework / Spring Boot
    • RESTful APIs
    • Microservices architecture
    • Enterprise application servers (e.g., JBoss)
    • Messaging technologies (JMS, MQ)
  • Strong understanding of Capital Markets products and trade processing, including FX, FX Options, Interest Rate Products, Commodities, Credit Derivatives, Exchange-Traded Derivatives, Market Risk, and Credit Risk.
  • Extensive experience with SQL, relational databases, data modeling, ETL development, and enterprise data integration.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS or Azure, including CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Nexus, and Terraform.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise applications using modern software engineering and cloud architecture principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting business-critical production systems.
  • Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Experience integrating with financial messaging standards and payment networks, including SWIFT, FedWire, and ACH.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with AWS cloud services, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Experience with Wall Street Systems, Nasdaq Spectrum, or other Capital Markets platforms.
  • Financial industry certifications or Calypso platform certifications.
