Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with strong Geospatial and Telecom Data Modeling experience to support advanced analytics and network optimization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with telecom datasets such as CDRs, network KPIs, and location-based performance data, along with expertise in geospatial analysis for coverage planning and optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and model geospatial telecom data including cell tower locations, signal strength, and coverage maps
- Perform location-based performance analysis to identify coverage gaps and optimize network performance
- Build and maintain data models for telecom datasets such as:
- Call Detail Records (CDR)
- Network KPIs (latency, throughput, drop rates)
- Subscriber usage and traffic patterns
- Develop predictive models for:
- Network congestion forecasting
- Traffic demand by region
- Outage detection using geographic patterns
- Collaborate with network engineering teams for coverage planning and optimization strategies
- Work with large-scale datasets using distributed processing frameworks
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models and analytical solutions
Required Skills & Qualifications
Geospatial & Telecom Expertise
- Strong understanding of:
- Coverage planning & network optimization
- Signal strength and RF performance metrics
- Location-based analytics in telecom environments
Data Modeling
- Hands-on experience in telecom-specific data modeling
- Strong SQL skills and experience designing structured datasets for analytics
- Experience working with large, complex datasets (CDR, KPI data)
Data Science & Tools
- Proficiency in Python libraries: Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn
- Experience with geospatial tools/libraries such as:
- ArcGIS / QGIS
- GeoPandas, Shapely
- PostGIS
- Map APIs (Mapbox / Google Maps)
- Experience with big data platforms like:
- Apache Spark / Databricks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecom domain (Wireless / Network Analytics)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, onsite client environment
Key Use Cases (Must Have Experience in At Least One)
- Predicting network congestion
- Optimizing tower placement / identifying coverage gaps
- Customer segmentation based on location usage
- Detecting network outages using geospatial analysis
