The Railroad Commission of Texas requires the services of one (1) Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, Level 3, with strong experience in Power BI and Snowflake to transform raw data into actionable insights. This role blends technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen to support data‑driven decision‑making across the organization. Additionally, focus on technical development, data modeling, stakeholder partnership, and enablement through training and self‑service analytics frameworks.

Job Description
Major responsibilities include Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models using Power Query, and best‑practice data modeling. Develop scalable star‑schema models and reusable datasets to support enterprise reporting. Ensure visualizations are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with business needs. Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
Other responsibilities include working closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translating them into BI solutions. Present insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, compelling way. Support self‑service analytics by enabling business users to explore curated datasets.
Essential Job Duties
- Implement BI best practices, including version control, documentation, and data governance.
- Optimize Power BI datasets for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with data engineering teams to refine Snowflake schemas, pipelines, and performance.
- Partner with report data architect to curate, certified datasets, data dictionaries and business glossaries.
- Validate data quality and ensure consistency across all BI assets.
- Support the governance standards for dataset ownership and lifecycle, access models and role‑based permissions.
- Establish best practices for dataset usage, report creation, and data stewardship.
- Monitor adoption and continuously improve the self‑service ecosystem.
- Develop and deliver train‑the‑trainer programs to empower power users, analysts, and business champions.
- Create training materials, documentation, and hands‑on workshops for Power BI and Snowflake‑based data sources.
- Mentor business teams on interpreting insights, building reports, and applying data‑driven decision‑making.
