Finance & Risk Lead Architect (Supporting Finance & Risk Architecture) - Charlotte, NC

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Architect to support mission-critical Finance & Risk architecture initiatives across Corporate Financial Accounting, CIB Capital Markets Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, and Investment Portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines strong enterprise architecture and information architecture capabilities with deep financial-services expertise. The candidate should be able to move initiatives from concept through architecture, design, and working prototypes, while partnering closely with Finance, Risk, Data, Engineering, and senior business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture for Finance and Risk initiatives.
• Design solutions across:
  • Corporate Accounting
  • Financial Accounting
  • Sub-Ledger modernization
  • General Ledger integration
  • CIB Capital Markets Accounting
  • Regulatory Reporting
  • Investment Portfolio
• Define current-state, target-state, interim-state, and transition-state architectures.
• Develop actionable architecture roadmaps and reusable enterprise patterns.
• Design architecture across:
  • Data
  • Applications
  • APIs
  • Events
  • Cloud platforms
  • Object storage
• Define authoritative data sources and reusable data products.
• Develop information architecture covering:
  • Data lineage
  • Data governance
  • Reconciliation
  • Auditability
  • Accounting event models
  • Metadata
• Support modernization of financial reporting and accounting processes.
• Apply AI/ML and GenAI/Agentic AI to:
  • Accounting processes
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Reconciliation
  • Controls
  • Data-quality monitoring
  • Financial analysis
• Develop working prototypes and proof-of-concepts for emerging AI and architecture solutions.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, privacy, Responsible AI, and Model Risk requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Data, Engineering, and business leadership.
• Present architecture decisions and recommendations to senior executives and Architecture Review Boards.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or data architecture.
• 5+ years of experience in Corporate Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, Investment Portfolio, Capital Markets Accounting, or closely related Financial Services domains.
• Strong understanding of:

• Experience with data lineage, authoritative sources, data products, reconciliation, and auditability.
• Strong experience with APIs, Kafka/event streaming, ETL/ELT, cloud/object storage, and modern data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI, LLM/RAG, or Agentic AI.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Familiarity with TOGAF or another enterprise architecture framework.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Finance transformation or accounting modernization.
• Experience with Regulatory Reporting platforms such as Axiom.
• Capital Markets / CIB experience.
• Experience designing accounting-event-driven architectures.
• Experience implementing AI in Finance, Risk, reconciliation, or reporting environments.
• Knowledge of data catalogs, metadata management, and lineage platforms.
