BCforward is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support and enhance commodity trade operations. The role requires strong experience in ETRM/CTRM environments, business analysis across front-to-back trade flows, and the ability to drive high-quality delivery across the full project lifecycle. The analyst will partner with Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Back Office, and IT teams to translate business needs into clear, testable requirements and support application and integration stability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end business analysis for hedging and trade initiatives from discovery through stabilization and hypercare.

  • Document current and future-state processes, including process maps, controls, handoffs, and exception handling across front-to-back trade flows.

  • Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.

  • Partner with solution architects, product owners, and delivery teams on solution design, configuration approach, and integration touchpoints.

  • Define data and reporting needs for positions, exposures, P&L, settlements, and confirmations, including sources and reconciliation expectations.

  • Support SIT and UAT planning and execution, including test strategy input, test case review, and execution coordination.

  • Drive defect triage and resolution by reproducing issues, documenting impacts, prioritizing with stakeholders, and coordinating fixes with vendors and internal teams.

  • Support deployment readiness, including cutover planning inputs, operational checks, and stakeholder communications.

  • Provide functional and techno-functional support for hedging and trade applications, including intake, analysis, and resolution coordination.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot integrations with upstream and downstream systems such as market data, confirmations, settlements, accounting interfaces, and reporting.

  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to manage escalations, track SLAs, and ensure timely resolution of production issues.

  • Maintain and improve support models, including intake processes, triage playbooks, escalation paths, and operational runbooks.

  • Analyze incidents and service requests, perform root-cause investigation, and document findings, workarounds, and corrective actions.

  • Drive production stabilization by identifying recurring defects, process gaps, and control weaknesses and executing remediation plans.

  • Participate in change management and release readiness to ensure supportability and smooth transitions to operations.

  • Serve as a trusted partner and communicate across business and technical audiences to facilitate decision-making on options, impacts, and trade-offs.

  • Promote disciplined delivery practices, including scope control, requirements quality, traceability, and test evidence.

  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement of analysis standards and delivery practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years as a Business Analyst supporting commodity trading and hedging in a functional or techno-functional capacity.

  • Proven delivery across requirements, process mapping, solution design support, SIT/UAT coordination, defect triage, deployment readiness, and hypercare.

  • Experience supporting production applications, including incident analysis, root-cause investigation, vendor coordination, and operational documentation.

  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, testable requirements and manage traceability through testing and release.

  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to align multiple teams and priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication focused on clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ION XTP or similar ION platforms supporting trade processing, integrations, and operational workflows.

  • Experience with ION Openlink (Endur/Openlink) in a functional or techno-functional role for trading and risk operations.

  • Background in regulated or controlled environments with attention to auditability, controls, and operational risk management.

  • Familiarity with market data, pricing, and reference data concepts for trading and risk reporting.
