Sr. Staff DevOps Engineer

As a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), your role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and optimizing primarily Google Cloud Platform-based solutions that leverage the discipline of Infrastructure as Code and the flexibility of the cloud to meet the organization's needs. We believe the best way to learn is sharing knowledge, so mentorship, documentation, communication, and knowledge sharing your experience with Google Cloud Platform and IaC is a core part of this position. Your duties typically include:

• Architecting Solutions: You will be responsible for designing robust and scalable architectures on Google Cloud Platform to support the organization's applications and services. This involves understanding business requirements; complex, multi-cloud and facility networking and interconnects; evaluating cloud services across Google Cloud Platform, Azure, and AWS; and designing solutions that meet performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implementing Infrastructure as Code practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate the provisioning and management of resources across our cloud platforms.
• Performance, FinOps, and Cost Optimization: Continuously monitoring and optimizing the performance of cloud systems to ensure optimal resource utilization, scalability, and reliability. Identify and report on bottlenecks, wasted resources, and expenditures; tune configurations; and implement best practices to improve system performance in a financially responsible manner.
• Security and Compliance: Implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) in cloud environments. This involves configuring identity and access management, network security, encryption, and auditing/logging solutions to protect data and resources.
• Artificial Intelligence Platform: This team is privileged to provide AI Services for client future. Securing, recommending, and providing the underlying architectures and evolving best practices will give you an opportunity to have a long-lasting impact using emerging technology.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, operations, and security teams, to ensure alignment on architecture decisions and implementation strategies. Documenting design decisions, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and future troubleshooting.
• Stay Updated: Keeping abreast of the latest developments and best practices in cloud computing, especially related to Google Cloud Platform. This involves attending training sessions, participating in forums, and obtaining relevant certifications to enhance expertise in Google Cloud Platform services and technologies.
• Overall, as a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer who specializes in Google Cloud Platform, your role is crucial in designing and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure cloud-based systems that enable the organization to leverage the full potential of our cloud platforms.

What makes you successful:

• You have at least 10 years experience in the cloud, most of it in Google Cloud Platform. You also have a familiarity with Azure and AWS
• Your experience in GitOps/DevOps leveraging GitHub, GitHub Runners, Backstage/Roadie, ArgoCD, Cloud Deploy
• Your expertise in K8S is a must, and proficiency in VMs, Cloud Run, and Serverless technologies will ensure success
• Your deep understanding of data and database familiarity with Big Query, Snowflake, MongoDB, and Cloud SQL (MariaDB, MSSQL)
• Your leadership level of experience with IaC with Terraform Cloud, Ansible
• Your deep understanding of VPCs, LBs, firewalls and general cloud networking
• You provide technical leadership and work direction to junior staff, including both project and operational activities
• Your documentation hygiene is impeccable, reflecting your understanding that knowledge is better when shared
• You serve as the primary technical point on contact on incidents impacting services the team provides
• You assist the Sr. Mgr. in packaging and structuring operational work for execution
• You assist the Sr. Mgr. in developing technical processes, operating procedures, and metrics for services and technologies the team is responsible for
• Nice to have: Familiarity or experience with FOCUS, GenAI and associated technologies
