Ideal Candidate Profile

A hands-on manufacturing professional who has successfully participated in greenfield plant setups, brownfield expansions, facility relocations, assembly line installations, factory transfers, or major capacity expansion projects, with the ability to take a manufacturing operation from concept through full-scale production.

Target Experience: HVAC, Data Centers, Industrial Equipment, Electrical Panels, Automotive, Heavy Equipment, Consumer Products, Packaging, or General Manufacturing Industries.

 

 

Manufacturing & Industrial Engineer – New Plant Setup

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing & Industrial Engineer to lead and support the planning, design, implementation, and operational launch of new manufacturing facilities. This role will be responsible for plant layout development, production line design, process optimization, equipment installation, capacity planning, workflow design, and production ramp-up activities to ensure a safe, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate combines strong industrial engineering principles with hands-on manufacturing experience and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Plant & Facility Setup

  • Lead new plant setup projects from concept through production launch.
  • Develop facility layouts, manufacturing cell layouts, and material flow strategies.
  • Define equipment placement, utility requirements, workstation design, storage locations, and production flow.
  • Coordinate facility readiness activities with Operations, Facilities, EHS, IT, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and start-up activities.

Manufacturing Process Development

  • Design and implement manufacturing processes for new production lines.
  • Develop process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
  • Establish line balancing, takt time, cycle time, and manpower requirements.
  • Create Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOMs), routing structures, and process flow documentation.
  • Perform process validation and capability studies prior to production launch.

Industrial Engineering & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct time studies, work measurement studies, and labor optimization assessments.
  • Perform capacity analysis and production throughput modeling.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing improvements.
  • Lead Kaizen, 5S, Visual Management, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Improve productivity, quality, ergonomics, and operational efficiency.

Production Ramp-Up Support

  • Support pilot builds, pre-production activities, and production ramp-up.
  • Establish KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Develop staffing models and operating procedures for production teams.
  • Monitor launch performance and implement corrective actions to meet production targets.
  • Work closely with suppliers and equipment vendors during installation and startup.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with customer, regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in PFMEA, Process Validation, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Support implementation of ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with EHS teams to ensure safe workstation and process design.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting new plant launches, facility expansions, or production line installations.
  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Experience with manufacturing ERP/MES systems.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, FactoryCAD, Visio, or layout planning software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching greenfield or brownfield manufacturing facilities.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in automated assembly, HVAC, industrial equipment, automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, DFMA, APQP, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • PMP certification is a plus.
