Mainframe Engineer/Developer

Location: New Jersey (hybrid Onsite)

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer/Developer to join a collaborative, high-performing technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and support mainframe applications while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions from development through production.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, enhance, test, and debug mainframe applications
Perform code analysis, troubleshooting, and production support
Collaborate with infrastructure and environment teams to promote code across development, testing, and production environments
Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions
Participate in application maintenance, enhancements, and issue resolution

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience developing and debugging mainframe applications
5+ years of COBOL development experience
Strong experience with CICS, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, MQ, JCL
Experience with Endeavor Software Manager
Familiarity with DB2 utilities, File-AID, job schedulers, and debugging tools
Knowledge of secure file transfer processes (SFTP/AWX)
Understanding of CICS Dynamic Transaction Routing preferred
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills:

CICS systems administration knowledge
Experience with Java and front-end technologies such as Angular

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
