Summary

The IT Systems Administrator – Acquisitions Support will play a key role in supporting newly acquired practice locations through hands-on IT infrastructure assessments, network deployments, Fortinet cutovers, and technical troubleshooting across a national footprint. This individual will be responsible for evaluating existing IT environments, documenting network configurations, servers, hardware, software, and administrative credentials, and coordinating the installation and replacement of networking equipment. The role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities across switches, firewalls, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, Windows Servers, Active Directory, and virtualized environments, while working alongside internal networking specialists on advanced configurations. This individual will also serve as the primary on-site escalation point for complex hardware, software, server, and connectivity issues that cannot be resolved remotely. Additional responsibilities include reconfiguring network-connected devices, ensuring systems remain fully operational following infrastructure transitions, maintaining accurate technical documentation in IT Glue, and providing white-glove support to practice staff during acquisitions and go-lives. The ideal candidate will be a highly independent, adaptable IT professional who thrives in diverse technical environments and is comfortable traveling extensively to support business operations nationwide.

Must Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on IT support, systems administration, field infrastructure support, or related technical experience.

  • Strong networking fundamentals, including hands-on experience with switches, firewalls, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, and troubleshooting network connectivity.

  • Broad technical experience supporting and troubleshooting diverse IT environments, including Windows workstations, servers, networking equipment, printers, and business applications.

  • Experience conducting infrastructure assessments, deploying or replacing network equipment, and independently troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Ability to stage, install, connect, and validate networking equipment while understanding network configurations and coordinating with specialized engineering resources.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently assess unfamiliar technical environments and resolve issues with minimal supervision.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 90–100% nationwide, including frequent flights, overnight stays, and occasional weekend assignments.

  • Self-starter with a proactive, hands-on mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to serve as the primary IT resource at remote practice locations.

  • Residence in the Dallas–Fort Worth area preferred; exceptional candidates near a major airport will be considered.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous Managed Service Provider (MSP) experience supporting multiple clients with diverse networking, server, and infrastructure environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, and network cutovers.

  • Experience supporting IT infrastructure integrations during mergers, acquisitions, or multi-site technology migrations.

  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V, DNS services, and virtualized infrastructure.

  • Experience troubleshooting and reconfiguring network-connected medical devices, cameras, printers, and other specialized equipment.

  • CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Windows Server, or related technical certifications.
