Software Product Engineer (remote)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A client with Kforce is seeking a remote Software Product Engineer to join their team.

Summary:
As an Experienced Software Product Engineer focused on backend, you'll design, build, and own the services and APIs that drive these experiences - working closely with product managers and data teams, and independently driving projects from design through delivery.

Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and own backend services and APIs supporting credit card recommendation and application experiences
* Independently drive projects from technical design through implementation, testing, and production rollout
* Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and provide thorough, constructive code review for peers
* Break down ambiguous product requirements into technical designs and shippable increments with minimal guidance
* Debug and resolve production issues, and participate in on-call rotations
* Partner with product managers and designers to shape technical solutions and influence product direction
* Own integrations with partner issuer APIs and internal data/ML services
* Write and maintain documentation for services you build and own
* Drive sprint planning, technical discussions, and retros, and raise the technical bar across the team
* Harness Claude, Cursor, and other GenAI tools across the development lifecycle - from design and coding to testing, debugging, and documentation - to work faster and more effectively

REQUIREMENTS:
* BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
* 3-5 years of professional backend software engineering experience
* Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
* Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
* Strong proficiency in at least one of TypeScript, Scala, or Node.js
* Solid understanding of REST APIs, relational/NoSQL databases, and distributed systems design
* Track record of independently owning and delivering complex projects end to end
* Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment when working through ambiguity
* Strong communication skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and design

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
