Kentro is hiring an experienced Major Incident Management Power BI Engineer to support our VA-ESOM- End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States.

We are seeking a Power BI Engineer with strong data analysis skills to design, develop, and maintain dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights for leadership and operational teams. This role combines technical expertise in Power BI with the ability to identify critical metrics, define what data should be tracked, and build scalable, reliable reporting processes. You will integrate data from ServiceNow, SQL databases, and other sources to create automated, user friendly dashboards that support data driven decision-making.

This is an opportunity to solve problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs by employing a user centric design methodology to develop and automate dashboards that will be utilized by VA senior leadership to leverage real-time data to make informed decisions.

Location: This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.

Compensation Range: The salary for this position is between $147-166K/annually. Factors affecting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop visually compelling and accessible Power BI dashboards and reports, including data modeling, and Power Query transformations.
  • Integrate and automate data pipelines from ServiceNow, SQL, and other structured/unstructured data sources to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify which data is operationally important, define tracking requirements, and build the corresponding metrics and KPIs.
  • Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, gaps, and insights that support workforce management, hardware/software asset tracking, system health, incidents, and other operational domains.
  • Establish and maintain data quality standards, documentation, and repeatable reporting processes.
    Communicate findings in clear, understandable formats using charts, graphs, visuals, and narrative explanations.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports meet accessibility, security, compliance, and agency requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across business operations and technical teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and best practices in data analytics.
  • Prepare and present data reports, briefing patterns, trends, and/or recommended actions to appropriate individuals using visualization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business, Management Information Systems, Engineering or related field AND 8+ years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop, including data modeling, DAX, custom visuals, and dashboard design.
  • Experience with ServiceNow reporting/data extraction and transforming ServiceNow tables for operational use.
  • Demonstrated ability to define KPIs, metrics, and tracking frameworks from ambiguous or evolving requirements.
  • Proven analytical skills, including identifying data gaps, validating data quality, and translating functional needs into measurable metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a data analyst leveraging Power BI
  • General knowledge of ITSM and Enterprise Operations
  • General knowledge of IT monitoring and alerting
  • Experience with scripting (e.g. JavaScript, Python)
  • Prior VA experience

  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance
  • Must meet updated ID requirements:
