General Purpose

Provide operational, analytical, technical, and leadership support for PacifiCorp\'s generation portfolio through resource planning, generation scheduling, outage coordination, and market participation activities. Depending on the level, responsibilities range from independently performing and coordinating activities that support the reliable and efficient operation of thermal, hydro, renewable, and energy storage resources to leading resource planning initiatives, providing technical guidance, strengthening organizational capability, and driving continuous improvement through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform generation scheduling, outage coordination, and operating plan development for thermal, hydro, renewable, and energy storage resources.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including Generation, Trading, Transmission, PMO, and other operational groups, to support resource planning and operational activities.
  • Coordinate PacifiCorp\'s participation in EDAM and other organized markets through operational coordination and maintenance of CAISO Master File (GRDT) and resource registration data.
  • Analyze operational data and develop reports, metrics, recommendations, and operational insights to support operational decision-making and business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, documentation, job aids, and process standards that promote consistent and reliable operations.
  • Maintain proficiency in resource planning processes, systems, and operational practices while supporting cross-training, knowledge sharing, and consistent operational execution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, standardization, and reliability.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make independent operational decisions within established procedures and authority.
  • Provide rotating on-call, after-hours, weekend, holiday, or emergency operational support as required.


In addition, the responsibilities at the Senior Resource Operations Analyst level include:

  • Lead generation scheduling, outage coordination, and operating plan development for thermal, hydro, renewable, and energy storage resources.
  • Provide technical and operational guidance to internal and external stakeholders, including Generation, Trading, Transmission, PMO, and other operational groups, to support resource planning and operational activities.
  • Lead operational readiness for PacifiCorp\'s participation in EDAM and other organized markets through oversight of CAISO Master File (GRDT) and resource registration activities.
  • Analyze operational data and develop reports, metrics, operational insights, and strategic recommendations that support generation portfolio management, operational decision-making, and risk management.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of operational procedures, documentation, job aids, and process standards to strengthen operational consistency, knowledge retention, organizational resilience, and long-term operational capability
  • Provide technical leadership across PacifiCorp\'s generation portfolio by mentoring team members, promoting knowledge sharing, supporting cross-training, and strengthening organizational capability within resource planning functions.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance generation portfolio management, operational efficiency, standardization, and organizational capability.
  • Provide technical guidance and exercise sound judgment in complex operational situations to support safe, reliable, and efficient generation portfolio management.
  • Provide leadership and technical support during rotating on-call, after-hours, weekend, holiday, or emergency operational situations as required.


Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Business, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in resource planning, utility operations, energy markets, engineering, data analysis, business operations, or a related field with demonstrated ability to independently perform operational responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage priorities, adapt to changing operational conditions, and perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of utility operations, resource planning, organized markets, or related operational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, systems, and operational processes and adapt to changing business and operational requirements.


In addition, the requirements at the Senior Resource Operations Analyst level include:

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in resource planning, utility operations, energy markets, engineering, data analysis, business operations, or a related field with demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, lead operational initiatives, and develop others.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, communication, mentoring, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to lead complex operational initiatives and strengthen organizational capability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility operations, generation portfolio management, organized markets, and applicable regulatory requirements.


Preferences

  • Experience in electric utility operations, resource planning, generation scheduling, energy markets, or related industries.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, or operational software such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of organized electricity markets, resource registration, or market participation processes (e.g., EDAM, CAISO, EIM).
  • Experience supporting process improvement, operational standardization, documentation, project coordination, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience developing operational documentation, training materials, or standardized procedures that support knowledge sharing and consistent operations.


This position is posted at two levels and will be filled at the level that commensurate with the successful candidate's applicable skills and experience.
