Job Title: Criminal Justice Data Scientist
Location: On Site Montgomery County Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Modeling
o Conduct advanced statistical analyses to identify crime trends and evaluate
risk factors.
o Conduct predictive modeling to forecast resource needs and identify potential
crime hotspots or high-risk individuals.
o Assess program effectiveness and policy impact using evidence-based
methodologies.
o Support agency-wide projects involving the management of large datasets for
investigative support or analysis.
Data Integration & Governance
o Develop and maintain secure data pipelines integrating law enforcement,
judicial, and corrections data.
o Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local data privacy and security
regulations (e.g., CJIS standards).
Reporting & Visualization
o Prepare clear, actionable reports and dashboards for agency leadership,
policymakers, and stakeholders.
o Translate technical findings into accessible insights for non-technical
audiences.
Collaboration & Research
o Partner with internal divisions, other government agencies, and research
institutions on data initiatives.
o Contribute to grant proposals and federally funded research projects.
Qualifications
Education
o Baccalaureate, Master s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Criminal Justice,
Computer Science, or related field.
Experience
o At least three years of experience in data science, data analysis, intelligence,
full-stack web development, or project management, preferably in a public
safety or criminal justice setting.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools like Power BI.
o Experience with machine learning frameworks and statistical modeling.
o Familiarity with GIS and spatial analysis is preferred.
Domain Knowledge:
o Strong understanding of criminal justice processes and government data
standards.
o Experience handling sensitive or classified data in compliance with CJIS and
FOIA guidelines.
Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
o Ability to work collaboratively across departments and agencies.
