Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager, PE (Buildings) Your work environment at EXPIn this role, you will be part of a dynamic team of electrical engineers and designers
for Science, Technology, and Healthcare MEP projects in the
San Diego, California office.

- Lead and mentor engineering and design staff, fostering growth in both technical and professional development.
- Perform quality control reviews of electrical engineering deliverables, including drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
- Serve in a responsible-charge capacity, ensuring work meets EXP's quality and design standards.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including the California Electrical Code (CEC), National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA Life Safety Code, HCAI, and DSA requirements.
- Represent EXP during client meetings, project coordination meetings, and site visits, documenting findings and action items as needed.
- Conduct field investigations, site verifications, and existing-condition assessments.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Prepare and execute electrical project work plans, ensuring successful delivery.
- Advise clients on code compliance and engineering requirements during meetings, design charrettes, and project reviews.
- Independently prepare technical studies, analyses, and reports for electrical systems.
- Evaluate value engineering opportunities while maintaining design integrity and managing project risk.
- Lead the development and integration of Basis of Design narratives into Design Development (DD) and Construction Documents (CD).
- Demonstrate advanced expertise in lighting systems, normal and emergency power distribution, and fire alarm systems.
What your experience looks like- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of electrical design experience in one or more of the following markets:
- Healthcare
- Life Sciences
- Research & Development
- Commercial and institutional building systems
- Proficiency in Revit MEP.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to travel locally as required.
- Must be in or willing to relocate to the San Diego, California area. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
The pay range for this role is $140,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
