Quality Manager
Quality ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our quality management system and ensure product and process compliance with ISO 9001 requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining QMS processes, driving corrective and preventive actions, managing audits and certifications, and reducing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) across our plastics manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements and company objectives.
- Lead internal, supplier, customer, surveillance, and certification audits; prepare audit plans, manage nonconformances, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Manage control of quality documentation, procedures, and records; ensure compliance with documented processes and regulatory requirements.
- Own and drive CAPA processes, containment actions (SCARs), root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Analyze quality data, key performance indicators, and COPQ metrics to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and report progress to senior management.
- Facilitate FMEA sessions and support design for quality activities to mitigate risks in processes and products.
- Coordinate supplier quality activities including supplier audits, qualification, performance monitoring, and improvement plans.
- Oversee inbound, in-process, and final quality control activities; ensure product conformity and effective inspection/testing procedures.
- Support customer quality activities including complaint management, technical response, and customer audits.
- Lead and develop the quality team, provide coaching, training, and maintain competency through internal auditor training and continuous development.
- Work closely with production, engineering, procurement, and R&D to embed quality by design, reduce scrap and rework, and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Manage certification activities and liaison with external registrars for ISO 9001:2015 surveillance and recertification audits.
- Utilize ERP data (Syteline) and quality systems to track nonconformances, corrective actions, and trend analysis.
Qualifications- Proven experience as a Quality Manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment; demonstrated leadership of quality programs.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and practical application of ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015 preferred) and experience managing certification/surveillance audits.
- Internal Auditor Certification (or equivalent) and experience conducting internal audits.
- Strong experience with QMS tools and processes including CAPA, FMEA, nonconformance management, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience with quality metrics and cost of poor quality (COPQ) analysis, and a track record of driving measurable improvements.
- Experience with supplier audits, customer audits, and managing SCARs/nonconformance communication.
- Practical hands-on experience in plastics manufacturing or polymer processing preferred.
- Familiarity with quality control practices, inspection techniques, and laboratory testing protocols used in plastics production.
- Experience with Syteline ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems to manage quality records and reporting preferred.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
