The Shop Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a variety of construction equipment and vehicles, including excavators, loaders, forklifts, trucks, and smaller tools. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, experience with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in construction equipment and vehicles.
  • \t
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to machinery, tools, and vehicles.
  • \t
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • \t
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems accurately.
  • \t
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • \t
  • Weld and fabricate parts as needed for equipment repairs.
  • \t
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • \t
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for repairs and maintenance.

  • Assist with the setup and operation of new equipment.
  • \t
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to complete tasks efficiently.

  • Keep the shop area organized, clean, and safe.

Qualifications:

    \t
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • \t
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment.
  • \t
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and construction equipment.
  • \t
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • \t
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • \t
  • Welding and fabrication skills are highly desirable.
  • \t
  • Valid driver's license; CDL (Commercial Driver\'s License) preferred or ability to obtain

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
