Role: Product Owner / Business Analyst / SME - Global Money Transfer Practice SME
Location: NYC, NY (Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term
JD:
We are building the next generation of our International Payments Platform, enabling seamless, compliant, and low-friction cross-border transactions for retail and corporate customers.
We''re looking for a hybrid Product Owner / Business Analyst who can bridge deep payments domain expertise with sharp analytical skills. You will own the product backlog for one or more squads—covering areas like FX pricing, payment rails, sanctions screening, or beneficiary management—while writing crisp user stories from complex regulatory and technical requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
· 4+ years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or hybrid role within payments—international/cross-border experience preferred.
· Domain knowledge: correspondent banking, SWIFT, local ACH/RTGS schemes, SEPA, Faster Payments, or emerging rails like blockchain-based settlement.
· Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks that shape payments: AML, sanctions screening (OFAC, EU, UN), PSD2/PSR, travel rule.
· Proven ability to write high-quality user stories with detailed acceptance criteria, aligning to a Definition of Ready.
· Strong data analysis skills—comfortable querying transaction data (SQL) or analyzing transaction traces to identify patterns and breaks.
Desirable
· Hands-on experience with ISO 20022 migration or coexistence with MT messaging.
· Knowledge of FX markets: spot, forwards, spreads, auto-hedging logic, and how these translate into product features.
· Experience working on multi-currency accounts, virtual IBANs, or real-time cross-border propositions.
· CSPO, PSPO, or IIBA (CBAP, CCBA) certification.
· Exposure to API-driven banking and open banking standards (PSD2, UK OB, BaaS platforms).
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
· Own, prioritize, and refine the squad backlog, ensuring every story delivers measurable customer and business value alongside mandatory compliance outcomes.
· Define and communicate a clear sprint goal aligned to the broader payment’s platform roadmap and OKRs.
· Make real-time scope trade-off decisions during sprints, balancing speed-to-market against non-negotiables like regulatory adherence and operational risk.
· Manage stakeholder expectations across Business, Operations, Compliance, Treasury, and Technology, speaking each team''s language fluently.
Business Analysis
· Elicit, document, and validate detailed functional and non-functional requirements for international payment journeys—creation, enrichment, repair, FX execution, settlement, and investigations.
· Map AS-IS and TO-BE payment flows using sequence diagrams or BPMN, highlighting impacts on legacy systems, API layers, and third-party vendors (e.g., SWIFT, Ripple, local clearing schemes).
· Translate complex rule engines and screening logic (sanctions, AML, fraud) into clear, testable acceptance criteria.
· Write interface specifications and message mapping documents—experience with ISO 20022 (MX, PACS, CAMT), SWIFT MT, or FIX protocol messages is a distinct advantage.
Data-Driven & Control Aware
· Define and track product metrics: payment success rates, STP (straight-through processing) %, FX margin leakage, repair rates, and investigation cycle time.
· Write clear UAT and BAT (Business Acceptance Testing) scripts for operations and compliance users.
· Ensure all backlog items incorporate the bank''s risk and control framework—audit trails, reconciliation controls, dual-approval thresholds—from the start, not as afterthoughts.
