Title: Desktop Engineer II
Type: Contract to hire
Location: Hybrid, DTC
Salary Range: Pay: $30/$36/hour
Summary
Seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer II to support, configure, and optimize end-user systems and applications within a corporate environment. This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, device management, workstation engineering, and ongoing improvement of technical processes. The position requires strong collaboration with internal teams, consistent documentation, and the ability to manage a steady flow of service requests while driving enhancements to workstation standards and automation.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support and issue resolution for internal users
- Troubleshoot, document, and resolve incidents involving desktops, laptops, and printers
- Administer antivirus solutions, monitor threats, and perform remediation tasks
- Conduct security audits and manage vulnerability assessments
- Manage user accounts in Active Directory and Exchange
- Test, schedule, and deploy operating system and software updates
- Build, maintain, and deploy system images and application packages for Windows and macOS
- Engineer and roll out new workstation technologies and enhancements
- Assess existing systems and implement improvements for efficiency and performance
- Create and update documentation for workstation architecture and processes
- Maintain accurate and detailed ticketing records, including updates and knowledge-base contributions
- Research and evaluate software, tools, and system options
- Support additional projects and tasks as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years in a Tier 2 desktop support or similar technical role
- 3+ years managing end-user devices and advanced troubleshooting
- 3+ years hands-on experience with macOS administration
- 3+ years experience supporting Windows operating systems
- Minimum 3 years working with JAMF
- Strong hardware diagnostic and repair skills
- Experience installing and supporting peripherals
- Knowledge of core IT security practices: malware remediation, phishing identification, exposure to firewall technologies
