Position Summary

The Power BI & Crystal Reports Consultant will serve as a subject-matter expert in business intelligence, responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining advanced data visualizations, dashboards, and operational reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making. This role bridges technical analytics with mission-critical business operations by transforming complex performance and operational data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

BI Reporting & Development

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visual analytics using Power BI and Crystal Reports.
• Deliver reporting solutions supporting operational performance, workload management, and executive reporting needs.

Data Visualization & Insight

• Translate complex datasets into intuitive, high-impact visualizations.
• Enable data-driven decision-making for leadership and operational teams.

Requirements Gathering

• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Data Integration & Modeling

• Extract, transform, and model data from multiple systems and sources.
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance across BI solutions.

Performance Optimization

• Monitor and maintain dashboard and report performance.
• Optimize data models, queries, and calculations for efficiency and responsiveness.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Work Product Testing

• Conduct thorough validation of reports and dashboards.
• Perform functional testing of calculations, filters, visuals, and data logic.
• Validate measures, DAX calculations, and data model integrity.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

• Plan and execute structured UAT sessions with representative end users.
• Capture, document, and resolve feedback prior to production deployment.

Regression Testing

• Perform regression testing following enhancements or updates.
• Document test cases and results.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve identified defects.

User Support & Training

• Provide training and documentation to promote BI adoption.
• Support self-service analytics capabilities.
• Offer ongoing troubleshooting and support.

Governance & Best Practices

• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.
• Follow established BI development and deployment best practices.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor s Degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering Power BI dashboards and Crystal Reports in a professional environment.

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query, and data modeling best practices.
• Expert proficiency building operational and enterprise-level reports in Crystal Reports.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming data from relational databases.
• Experience managing Power BI deployment pipelines (Dev/Test/Prod) with thorough end-to-end testing practices.
