Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with strong backend engineering expertise to support enterprise-scale AI/ML platforms. This role focuses on building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade machine learning services in cloud environments.

Important: Candidates with primarily Data Science or research backgrounds will not be considered. We are looking for engineers with hands-on experience building scalable ML systems in production.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with production ML systems.
• Strong expertise in Python, SQL, PySpark, and Docker.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (required) and Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
• Experience designing and supporting scalable backend services for ML applications.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience collaborating with Data Scientists to deploy ML models into production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, system design, and backend architecture.
• Experience with recommendation engines, personalization platforms, search, analytics, or AI-powered applications is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• AWS SageMaker
• Feature Store implementation
• Real-time ML inference
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
• AI/LLM application integration

Mandatory Requirements

• Recent experience in Hospitality, Travel, Personalization, Recommendation Systems, or similar customer-facing ML platforms is highly preferred.
• Candidates must have recent hands-on experience building and supporting production Machine Learning systems.
• Strong LinkedIn profile with professional photo is required.
• Local Chicago candidates and former Hyatt consultants/employees are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ML backend services.
• Productionize machine learning models and AI solutions.
• Build streaming and batch data processing pipelines.
• Deploy and monitor ML services in AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of ML systems.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Architecture teams.
• Participate in system design and technical architecture discussions.
