Network Engineer

NNI Optimization project - review our Clients inventory of about 5,000 NNI (network to network interface) connections with third party suppliers to 1) identify which ones they pays for vs which they does not and 2) create an engineering plan to optimize the utilization of these NNIs. For example, with a particular supplier our client may have 10 NNI connections between a serving wire center and their POP with a third party, but with low utilization. The goal would be to create an engineering plan to consolidate the EVCs (ethernet virtual channels) onto fewer NNIs so our client can disconnect the NNIs with the highest cost to our client. This is a multi year program as planning is one phase and implementation is another. The right resource is a network engineer that understands NNI optimization and can remove roadblocks for implementation (clearing channel conflicts, working with operations to schedule the work, etc). Ideally the analysis work also could be automated over time.
It is possible for this person to help with future automation with one of many automation tools at our client's disposal.
The individuals need to be intimately familiar with legacy tools and systems such as TIRKS (Trunk, inventory, record keeping system), Granite, Canopy, and ADW (AT&T Data Warehouse/billing system), capable of data modeling, analytics, and project management for negotiations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
