Job Description

You will be the Lead Training Systems Engineer, Classified Aviation Maintenance for the Skunk Works Maintenance Training team which is responsible for developing and integrating aviation maintenance training content and technical manuals for both fielded and emerging systems.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Lead Training Systems Engineer, Classified Aviation Maintenance you will be responsible for guiding a team of Maintenance Training SMEs to design, produce, and deliver high-impact, instructionally sound curricula that translate complex technical data into clear training solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and supervise a Maintenance Training team of developer and instructor SMEs, managing schedules, progress tracking, and contract deliverables.
  • Conduct Instructional System Design analyses and task analyses across organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance.
  • Create curricula, lesson plans, job aids, assessments, and performance-support tools that transform technical orders, illustrated parts manuals, schematics, and drawings into maintainable training content.
  • Partner with engineering, maintainers, and technical publications to ensure technical accuracy, configuration control, and compliance throughout the training lifecycle.
  • Oversee QA reviews, guide training suppliers, and evaluate training effectiveness, applying data-driven updates to keep the program current.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Instructional Design, Human Factors, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Leadership experience coordinating cross functional teams, suppliers, schedules, and deliverables
Experience developing military aviation maintenance training and or maintenance enablement content
Experience conducting structured QA of training modules and or technical manuals
Experience developing and facilitating training in classroom and or technology based formats
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical content clearly

Desired skills

Prior military aviation maintenance or maintenance training experience, including exposure to O, I, and D level maintenance workflows
Demonstrated experience with Instructional System Design processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and performance based training methods, including assessment design
Experience developing CBT and interactive courseware, including storyboarding and media coordination
Experience with technical publications workflows, configuration control, and change integration between manuals and training products
Experience interpreting IPBs, drawings, and 3D models, and collaborating with illustrators and engineering teams to produce accurate visuals
Familiarity with budgets, estimating, and Cost Account Management responsibilities
Working knowledge of MIL STD technical data, and experience integrating engineering information into training courseware and performance support materials
Experience performing task analysis and producing training products from the results
Willingness and ability to travel to customer and program sites to support and deliver instructor led training as required
Ability to work in a classified or controlled program environment in compliance with security and program requirements

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $128,400 - $226,435. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $147,700 - $255,990. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
