Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to support mission-critical applications for a Department of Defense (DoD) program. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development expertise, experience working in secure and regulated federal environments, and the ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications while complying with DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications supporting DoD systems.
· Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data processing components.
· Collaborate with system architects, security teams, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
· Ensure applications comply with DoD security, compliance, and data protection standards.
· Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization.
· Integrate applications with databases, external systems, and APIs.
· Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting in secure environments.
· Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation in accordance with federal standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· 10+ years of experience in software development with strong focus on Python.
· Active Secret Clearance (must be current).
· Strong experience with Python frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI).
· Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
· Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
· Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server).
· Experience working in federal or DoD programs.
· Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
· Experience with cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
· Knowledge of DevOps / CI-CD pipelines.
· Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Familiarity with security best practices (STIGs, RMF, secure coding).
