About the job:
At our organization, you are empowered to make a meaningful impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem-solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.
Join us for a significant technical transformation in Broker-Dealer Systems and the modernization of our core technology infrastructure. As a Senior AI Developer Tech Lead, you will act as a pioneer for AI-focused workflows across the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will work at the intersection of cutting-edge artificial intelligence and complex financial domains, building intelligent systems that directly impact the retirement and financial security of millions of people.
Responsibilities:
Lead AI Integration: Drive the daily use of AI assistance for common development tasks (code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting) while maintaining clear ownership of correctness and quality.
Optimize Workflows: Apply GenAI in ways that reduce context-switching and accelerate delivery across typical engineering workflows, going beyond just writing new code.
Drive Spec-Driven Development: Establish and lead team-level practices for effective AI-assisted development, leveraging agentic workflows, custom instructions, prompt engineering, and translating low-level design artifacts (class structures, API contracts, data models) into structured specs.
Architect and Modernize: Lead the design and architecture of highly available, cloud-based microservices from the ground up, while simultaneously driving legacy-to-distributed platform modernization initiatives.
Collaborate and Execute: Operate with a bias for action to effectively engage with fellow developers, architects, and adjacent teams.
Mentor and Guide: Lead by example, fostering a collaborative engineering culture while coaching and grooming junior developers on modern best practices.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
12+ years of professional software engineering experience actively developing large-scale software using Java, Spring framework, cloud development, and Web Services to support high-volume transactions in a highly available environment.
6+ years of experience working with containers and microservices in the cloud, including cloud deployment in a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) model.
5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., PCF, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform) and working with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML implementation, production deployment, and Large Language Models (e.g., GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, PaLM).
2+ years of experience in IT transformations and system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms (e.g., Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL or MongoDB).
Demonstrated experience acting as a Tech Lead, including mentoring junior developers and designing/architecting systems from scratch in a greenfield environment.
Hands-on experience with GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) across day-to-day SDLC engineering workflows within IDE/CLI environments.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related practical field.
Domain expertise in the Financial Services industry, specifically with an understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
Strong working knowledge of messaging technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent).
Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), QA Automation, and a strong quality-first mindset.
Proficiency in developing architectural and design documentation (e.g., Visio diagrams), functional/technical specifications, and automated test processes.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience utilizing the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA and Confluence).
Ability to independently research, document, and learn all aspects of the tech stack, including production, test environments, architecture, and design work.
