Summary

About the Role

As the Senior Productivity Platform Developer, you will be the primary technical owner and architect of the company’s Asana platform. You will design, standardize, and scale the way teams plan, track, and deliver work in Asana across the company. This includes establishing governance and best-practice frameworks, building reusable templates and automations, managing integrations, and ensuring the platform is secure, reliable, and easy to use.

As a member of the Productivity Platform team, you will partner closely with Engineering, Datacenter Operations, IT to translate business processes into robust Asana workflows that drive clarity, accountability, and execution at scale.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who loves both systems design and hands-on configuration, and who enjoys building repeatable, opinionated patterns for how work gets done.

What You’ll Do

●      Own the overall Asana and Unito platform architecture and governance, including organization, teams, portfolios, projects, custom fields, templates, naming conventions, project/template standards, intake and approval processes for new configurations, and data hygiene practices.

●      Partner with business stakeholders to deeply understand their processes, then translate requirements into opinionated, maintainable Asana solutions with clear ownership and SLAs.

●      Design and implement scalable, cross-functional workflows in Asana using projects, templates, forms, rules, approvals, custom fields, and portfolios to support campaigns, launches, intake, and operational processes.

●      Serve as the primary Asana admin and subject-matter expert, managing global settings, security controls, user provisioning/deprovisioning, and licensing.

●      Build and maintain Asana automations and integrations using native capabilities and third-party tools (e.g., Workato, Zapier, or similar) to connect Asana with systems such as Slack, Google Workspace, email, Jira, Salesforce, GitHub, and internal tools.

●      Collaborate closely with Enterprise Security and Identity teams to ensure Asana adheres to the company’s security and compliance standards, including SSO/SAML, SCIM-based provisioning, MFA, least-privilege access, and auditability.

●      Establish and maintain dashboards, reporting, and usage analytics to measure adoption, data quality, and workflow effectiveness; use insights to drive continuous improvement.

●      Develop and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and internal guides for Asana usage, configuration patterns, and support processes.

●      Lead enablement efforts including training sessions, office hours, and 1:many enablement to help teams become confident, self-sufficient Asana users.

●      Act as an escalation point for complex Asana issues, coordinating with Asana support and internal teams to drive timely resolution and preventive improvements.

What You Bring

Required

●      3–5+ years in enterprise IT, SaaS administration, business systems, or enterprise applications engineering.

●      3+ years hands-on experience as an Asana Administrator or equivalent role managing Asana for a mid-to-large scale organization (multi-team, 1000+ users), including ownership of global configuration and governance.

●      Deep expertise across core and advanced Asana capabilities, including:

○      Organization/team/project structure, portfolios, goals, workload

○      Custom fields, forms, rules, approvals, templates

○      Advanced search, reporting, dashboards, and workload views

○      Guest access, permissions models, and sharing patterns

●      Proven experience designing and rolling out complex, cross-functional workflows in Asana (e.g., campaign management, GTM programs, intake/triage, operational runbooks) from requirements through production, training, and iteration.

●      Strong understanding of modern identity and access management concepts:

○      SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access controls

○      Experience integrating Asana with IdPs such as Okta and/or Entra ID

●      Hands-on experience with APIs and automation:

○      Comfort working with REST APIs, webhooks, and API clients

○      Scripting or development experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar for integrations and tooling

○      Experience with workflow automation platforms (e.g., Workato, Zapier, or similar) to orchestrate cross-system workflows

●      Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with non-technical stakeholders, run discovery, document requirements, and propose pragmatic, scalable solutions.

●      Excellent communication and documentation skills; comfortable presenting recommendations, leading trainings, and driving cross-functional alignment.

Preferred

●      Experience rolling out or maturing Asana and Unito in a high-growth, cloud-native or engineering-heavy organization.

●      Experience defining governance and operating models for SaaS applications, including intake, change management, and release practices.

●      Familiarity with data and analytics tooling (e.g.Tableau, or similar) to expose Asana data for reporting, capacity planning, and executive insights.

●      Experience integrating SaaS apps in an enterprise environment, including event-driven integrations, workflow orchestration, and error-handling strategies.

●      Exposure to security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, SOX, GDPR) and how they apply to SaaS platforms and collaboration tools.

●      Relevant certifications or demonstrated expertise in adjacent domains (e.g., Okta, ITIL, project management, business analysis) that support structured process design and change management.
