Job Profile Title: Software Engineering Manager

Location/ Division Specific Information- Austin TX/ M04

How Will you Make an Impact?-

Lead and manage the BMC Firmware department for in-house design Server and Storage Products in Jabil's Cloud, Enterprise, and Infrastructure business.

What Will You Do?--

    • Own New Product Introduction and Sustaining software solutions which utilize both AMI SW base code and Jabil OpenBMC FW.

    • Evaluate technical feasibility and implementation strategy for industry standard capabilities, customer requirements and Jabil value add features.

    • Drive new project RFQ, HLD, LLD evaluation and the SW organization's feature implementations.

    • Focus on preventing and moving issue discovery to the left for higher quality and faster code deliverables.

    • Coach and enable engineers in fixing complex defects, including functional, performance and security issues, effectively during development.

    • Clarify and resolve field issues from manufacturing and internal/external customers with high priority.

    • Provide equipment, prototype and resource requirements for project planning and cost summaries.

    • Work with director to build up the group, maintain and improve the team competencies and processes according to company's business requirements.

    • Understand and utilize AI applications to improve SW quality and development efficiency.

    • Support detailed technical dialogue with key stakeholders such as the customer system engineering team.

How Will You Get There?-
  • Education:

    • B.A./B.S. in Software Engineering or IT related fields is required

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

  • Experience:

    • 8 years software development experience, including at least 4 years management experience is required

    • Proficiency in embedded software development process and methods; successful experience in product development and team management.

    • Software development experience required in at least one of these areas and preferably more than one: telecom, data-com, security, PC/server/storage, consumer electronics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of software development processes and procedures.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Creative, self-motivated and responsible with good team work spirit.

  • Execution of responsibilities independently with minimum supervision.

  • Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, achieving productivity gains and cost reduction.

  • Proficiency in English required. Fluency in Mandarin preferred.

  • Domestic and international travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is a plus
  • Fluency in Mandarin preferred
