Summary

Overview
We are seeking a Field Telecommunications Technician to support critical telecommunications operations across multiple Charleston-area facilities. This onsite role plays a key part in maintaining network reliability, supporting outage response, and ensuring consistent service for internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on telecom experience and thrives in a field-based, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, wire, and support routers and switches; coordinate configuration and troubleshooting with internal engineering teams.
Install and provision transport equipment and Ethernet services within an MPLS environment.
Perform testing, deployment, documentation, and support for system upgrades, patches, and scheduled maintenance windows.
Respond to service outages, system alarms, and provide hands-on support during storms or disaster recovery events.
Participate in network cutovers, maintenance windows, and system grooming activities.
Identify required resources, develop technical solutions, and recommend improvements to resolve operational challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS, and other LAN/WAN data circuits.
Hands-on experience terminating and troubleshooting multiple cabling types, including fiber.
Strong understanding of fiber terminations, data circuits, and 48V / 135V DC power plants.
Experience with DC plant systems, LAN and wireless testing, fiber optic test equipment, and various structured cabling systems.
Familiarity with cable identification, cable termination standards, and Channel Banks.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Electrical or electronic technical background.
SCADA system experience or exposure.
Strong technical documentation, communication, and reporting skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
Fully onsite role, Monday through Friday.
Local travel to facilities within approximately 45 minutes of the primary Charleston location.
Initial training conducted alongside a partner using a company vehicle.
After training, technicians use their personal vehicle for site visits; mileage reimbursement provided.
On-call rotation required every other month for two weeks to support emergency situations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
