Job Title: RHT Provider EHR Support Specialist

Contract Duration: 8 months

Job Summary

The NC HIEA RHT Provider EHR Support Specialist will support North Carolina’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) by helping rural and underserved healthcare organizations connect to and effectively use NC Health Connex, the state’s Health Information Exchange.

This role requires expertise in Electronic Health Records (EHRs), healthcare interoperability, clinical workflows, and data quality. The Specialist will support provider onboarding, troubleshoot integration issues, validate clinical data, and train providers on NC HealthConnex services.

Required Skills

• 5 years: Experience with EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, Allscripts/Veradigm, or NextGen.
• 5 years: Proficiency with HL7 v2, C-CDA, CCD, FHIR, and USCDI.
• 5 years: Experience validating structured clinical data and troubleshooting EHR integration issues.
• 3 years: Ability to interpret clinical workflows and map them to data exchange requirements.
• 3 years: Strong communication skills, including explaining technical topics to nontechnical stakeholders.
• 3 years: Knowledge of HIPAA and health information privacy/security requirements.

Desired Skills

• 3 years: Experience supporting HIE onboarding, healthcare interoperability projects, or multi-vendor EHR environments.
• 3 years: Experience with SQL, interface engines, or data mapping tools.
• 3 years: Familiarity with state or federal digital health programs such as NC HIEA initiatives, Medicaid QPHE, or NCQA DAV.
• 3 years: Experience working with rural or underserved provider settings.
