Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands‑on experience in enterprise database administration and proven expertise in Oracle environments. The ideal candidate will lead our initiative to upgrade from SQL Server 2019 to SQL Server 2025, ensuring seamless migration, performance optimization, and vendor collaboration. This role requires a balance of technical depth, cross‑platform knowledge, and vendor management ability to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Server Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, test, and production environments.
• Lead the upgrade from SQL Server 2019 to SQL Server 2025, including compatibility assessments, pilot rollouts, and phased migration strategies.
• Perform backups, restores, disaster recovery planning, and configure high‑availability solutions (Always On, clustering, replication).
• Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies for queries, indexes, and storage.
• Ensure database security through encryption, auditing, role‑based access, and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Oracle Database Experience

• Support and administer Oracle databases alongside SQL Server environments.
• Perform cross‑platform data migration, integration, and interoperability tasks.
• Optimize Oracle queries, schemas, and performance tuning to align with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure consistency and reliability across heterogeneous database platforms.

Vendor Management

• Act as the primary liaison with Microsoft, Oracle, and third‑party vendors for licensing, support contracts, and escalations.
• Evaluate vendor tools and solutions to align with enterprise requirements.
• Negotiate service agreements, track SLAs, and ensure vendors meet performance and delivery standards.
• Coordinate with vendors during upgrades, patch cycles, and incident resolution.

Program & Stakeholder Support

• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to design and implement scalable database solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical roadmaps, user stories, and release plans.
• Provide technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Use metrics and KPIs to measure adoption, performance, and program success.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience upgrading SQL Server environments (2016/2019 → 2022/2025).
• Strong Oracle DBA experience, including administration, performance tuning, and migration.
• Expertise with SQL Server deployment tools and frameworks (SCCM/MECM, Intune, Autopilot, MDT alternatives).
• Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and OEM engagement.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.
