Job Description
A major financial technology organization is adding a Lead Security Engineer to its IAM Tools Engineering team in Columbus, OH.

The person joining this group will be responsible for ensuring that enterprise Identity and Access Management services can operate securely and reliably in complex production environments. The position combines information security engineering with platform operations, reliability, infrastructure coordination, and technical leadership.

You will partner with software engineers to investigate security findings across applications, containers, infrastructure, and third-party components and then guide those issues through remediation. Beyond vulnerability work, the role is responsible for improving how the team operates and supports its applications day to day.

That includes developing stronger production support processes, improving operational documentation, coordinating application environments, reviewing releases, managing technical incidents, and helping teams recover quickly from service disruptions.

You will also use operational data to identify weaknesses before they become outages. The team is looking for someone who understands modern monitoring practices and can improve dashboards, application telemetry, event management, alerting, performance visibility, and distributed tracing.

Additional projects may include cloud migration, infrastructure optimization, disaster recovery planning, high-availability improvements, environment governance, and deployment automation.

  • 7 or more years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience may come from Information Security, SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, or related backgrounds
  • Enterprise production application support experience
  • Strong vulnerability management expertise
  • Knowledge of secure application and platform engineering practices
  • Experience diagnosing high-severity production problems
  • Previous involvement in incident command, escalation management, or service restoration
  • Understanding of application health monitoring and operational analytics
  • Experience working with cloud-hosted or distributed systems
  • Familiarity with structured change and release processes
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to influence technical teams and communicate effectively with leadership
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Previous work with IAM, access management, or identity governance technology
  • Azure cloud experience
  • OpenShift or Kubernetes knowledge
  • Experience supporting container-based workloads
  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native architecture
  • Application performance monitoring experience
  • Security remediation program experience
  • Disaster recovery or resiliency engineering background
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management concepts
  • Knowledge of automated build and deployment pipelines
  • DevSecOps experience
  • Relevant information security, cloud, infrastructure, or ITIL certification
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
  • Evaluate security findings across IAM applications and supporting technology
  • Prioritize risk based on severity, business impact, and operational requirements
  • Partner with software teams on mitigation and remediation plans
  • Support threat modeling, security assessments, and application security reviews
  • Maintain the stability and availability of production platforms
  • Investigate escalated application and infrastructure problems
  • Coordinate engineering teams during major incidents
  • Document post-incident findings and track preventative actions
  • Study operational trends to find performance and reliability risks
  • Create and improve dashboards for service health and application availability
  • Define appropriate alerting thresholds and operational standards
  • Coordinate infrastructure dependencies such as certificates, networking, databases, middleware, and DNS
  • Maintain consistency across development, QA, staging, DR, and production environments
  • Support releases, upgrades, environment refreshes, and production implementations
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures and participate in failover validation
  • Mentor technical team members and provide guidance on security and operational best practices
