This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing Managed Services Provider. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 4 Senior MS SQL Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of MS SQL and demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills. This is a senior-level position that requires extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database environments.
This position is supported by a 24x7x365 team, but occasional evening and weekend work maybe required to handle emergencies or perform system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration & Operations
· Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases in production environments.
· Perform hands-on database management including installations, upgrades, patching, backups, restores, and migrations.
· Monitor, tune, and optimize SQL Server performance and capacity.
· Troubleshoot complex SQL Server issues and serve as an escalation point.
· Support MySQL databases as needed for hybrid or customer environments.
Managed Services & Reliability
· Deliver customer-facing managed database services aligned with contractual SLAs and SLOs.
· Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation supporting enterprise production environments.
· Lead or contribute to major incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
· Ensure database platforms meet standards for high availability, disaster recovery, and security.
Azure & Hybrid Database Platforms
· Support SQL Server workloads in Azure (Azure SQL VM, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database).
· Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams on hybrid SQL Server architectures.
· Provide support for MySQL in Azure or on-premises as secondary responsibility.
Customer Engagement
· Act as a technical point of contact for enterprise MSP customers.
· Participate in customer technical reviews, planning sessions, and operational discussions.
· Translate customer requirements into stable, supportable SQL Server solutions.
· Support onboarding of new SQL Server environments.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
· Develop and maintain automation for routine SQL Server DBA tasks (T-SQL, PowerShell, scripts).
· Improve monitoring, alerting, documentation, and operational processes.
· Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
· Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
· Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Certification: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
· Experience
o 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
o Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments.
o Experience supporting managed services or customer-facing SQL Server environments.
o Deep understanding of SQL Server HA/DR technologies (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, replication, log shipping).
o Proven experience with backup and recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
o Solid understanding of SQL Server security and compliance best practices.
o Experience supporting SQL Server in Azure and hybrid environments.
o Experience with Azure SQL services (Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database).
· Ability to participate in 24×7 on-call rotations.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
