Role: Migration Architect Lakehouse & Data Migration Location: Denver, CO Onsite day 1 Experience: 14+ years | 7+ years in data architecture and large-scale migration programs Long Term Contract
Role Summary:
Own the target-state Lakehouse architecture (Databricks + Snowflake + AWS) and define migration blueprints, technical guardrails, and design patterns for the Redshift-to-Lakehouse migration. Serve as the technical authority for all architecture decisions, ensuring the data foundation is AI-ready, governed, and production-grade.
Key Responsibilities:
Refine and maintain target-state Lakehouse architecture security zones, data classifications, HA/DR patterns, CI/CD integration
Define and enforce migration blueprints and patterns (Redshift $B"*(B Iceberg on Databricks, Redshift $B"*(B Snowflake) for Tier 1/Tier 2 workloads
Establish technical guardrails schema standardization, naming conventions, ETL/ELT design patterns, performance & cost optimization, observability
Architect data layer for Agentic AI readiness Unity Catalog governance, metadata standards, open table formats (Managed Iceberg) optimized for autonomous AI agent consumption
Author Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) for every significant design decision
Review and approve all production deployments for architectural integrity; participate in CAB for high-risk changes
Lead architecture workshops and KT sessions for EchoStar architects and tech leads
Ensure all prototypes are production-grade no new technical debt creation
Must-Have Skills:
Deep experience with AWS S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, EMR, Lambda, CloudWatch, DynamoDB
Expert-level knowledge of Databricks (Lakehouse, Delta/Iceberg, Unity Catalog, DLT, Autoloader) and Snowflake (Snowpipe, Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, Cortex AI, Horizon Catalog)
Hands-on experience designing Redshift/legacy-to-Lakehouse migration architectures
Strong understanding of open table formats (Iceberg, Delta Uniform), medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in Terraform / CloudFormation for IaC
Nice-to-Have:
Telecom data domain expertise (billing, CDR, subscriber, network, video services)
Experience with Databricks Genie, AgentBricks, Lakeflow Connect
Familiarity with Dynatrace for observability
Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Snowflake SnowPro Core certification
Experience with AI governance frameworks (bias, lineage, traceability)
