Summary

Schaeffler is a dynamic global technology company and its success has been a result of its entrepreneurial spirit and long history of private ownership. As a partner to all of the major automobile manufacturers, as well as key players in the aerospace and industrial sectors, we offer you many development opportunities.

Your Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Co-op Student to support the Application Engineering team with a variety of developmental tasks and projects. In this role, you will gain practical experience in bearing technology, failure analysis, customer support, and prototype coordination while working closely with experienced engineers and production plants.

  • Perform mechanical system analysis for shaft, gear, and bearing arrangements using BearinX, Schaeffler's proprietary analysis software.
  • Conduct failure analysis investigations through detailed inspections of returned parts.
  • Prepare technical analysis reports summarizing findings, root causes, and recommendations for customers.
  • Consult with customers to understand their application needs and technical requirements. Recommend suitable bearing solutions to help customers achieve their desired service-life targets.
  • Facilitate prototype and sample production through order entry and coordination with production plants.

Your Main Project:

Develop a methodology and/or database for categorizing existing and new Returned Goods Analysis (RGA) reports. This should improve the efficiency of generating future reports by providing easier access to relevant reference information and general mitigation strategies for similar issues across different application types. You will complete this project with input and guidance from Application Engineering team members and management.

Your Qualifications

  • High school diploma and currently pursuing a four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant field.
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, customers, and production teams.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment visa or other sponsorship.

As a global company with employees around the world, it is important to us that we treat each other with respect and value all ideas and perspectives. By appreciating our differences, we inspire creativity and drive innovation. In this way, we contribute to sustainable value creation for our stakeholders and society as a whole. Together, we advance how the world moves.

Exciting assignments and outstanding development opportunities await you because we impact the future with innovation. We look forward to your application.
