Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of our US-based public accounting firm serving small to mid-sized businesses and Corporates. This role is ideal for a professional with strong experience in professional services sales, preferably with knowledge of financial and accounting services.
The Business Development Manager/ Lead will own new client acquisition efforts, develop strategic referral relationships, manage the sales pipeline, and partner closely with firm leadership to drive sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
New Business Development
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities for accounting, business process management (AP/ AR management), Payroll, and advisory services (viz., Shared Controllership or FP&A services)
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, proposal development, pricing coordination, and deal closure
- Meet or exceed defined revenue and pipeline targets
- Maintain accurate forecasts and reporting using CRM tools
Client & Prospect Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with business owners, CFOs, controllers, and founders
- Conduct discovery calls to understand client pain points and align firm services
- Support smooth onboarding and handoff to service delivery teams
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing accounts
Referral & Market Development
- Develop and manage referral relationships with CPAs, attorneys, bankers, wealth advisors, and PE/VC contacts
- Represent the firm at US-based networking events, industry conferences, and trade associations
- Support firm visibility through strategic partnerships and targeted outreach campaigns
- Stay informed on US market trends, competitor offerings, and pricing benchmarks
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Leadership team/ SMEs to align sales efforts with firm capacity and expertise
- Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, thought leadership, and lead-generation initiatives
- Provide market feedback on service offerings, pricing models, and client demand
- Contribute to annual growth planning and go-to-market strategy
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Business, Marketing or Finance or a related field
- 10 + years of business development or consultative sales experience in professional services
- Prior experience in public accounting, consulting, or financial services preferred
- Demonstrated success selling recurring services (retainers, annual engagements, advisory)
