Job Title: Payments Subject Matter Expert (Onsite) (Specialized in Payment Domain)
Location: ONLY Austin, TX 3 days a week, Day one onsite.

Domain specialists with Payment s processing in Transaction Banking for SWIFT (CBPR+) and US Payment Rails, namely, FedWire Funds, CHIPS, ACH, RTP and FedNow, with prior experience in large scale Payments Transformation / Modernization programs. The candidate is expected to demonstrate deep knowhow of payment processing from origination to clearing and settlement, for each of the payment rails. The candidate is expected to partner with senior business and technology stakeholders on the client side on modernizing the payment ecosystem with an aim to reduce the total cost of ownership. This role demands liaising with client stakeholders and Persistent team to clearly articulate the business requirements; process flows and applicable operating guidelines and operating rules as deemed applicable for various use cases. The candidate must have prior experience working in large scale Payment Modernization projects from strategy and planning to execution and implementation.
- Strong domain expertise across SWIFT CBPR+ and US Payment Rails: Fedwire Funds, CHIPS, ACH, RTP, and FedNow
- Endtoend knowledge of payment processing from origination through clearing, settlement, and reconciliation
- Hands-on experience with ISO 20022, NACHA standards, and railspecific message flows
- Proven experience partnering with senior business and technology stakeholders on payment modernization initiatives aimed at reducing TCO
Must have skills:
Generic System Analyst skills:
- Ability to analyze and document Current State Analysis (Functional and System Architecture, Process Flow, Data Flows, E2E Data Lineage, Interface Catalog)
- Ability to lead requirements gathering workshops and sever as a strong liaison between Business and Technology stakeholders
- Ability to liaise with client stakeholders to identify use cases and various business scenarios applicable towards money movement
- Ability to prepare customer journeys, process flows, data flows diagrams using tools such as MS Visio, Lucid Chart, PowerPoint, draw.io, etc
- Prior hands-on experience on Data Mapping and Data Lineage
- Ability to validate readiness of the application aligned to functional and non-functional requirements
- Ability to draft effective epics, user stories with well-articulated acceptance criteria
- Must be able to write and understand simple SQL queries towards data analysis
- Must be able to liaise with the quality assurance team to define functional and technical test scenarios
- Must be able to track the project progress and report any red flags in a timely fashion
Payments Domain skills:
- Knowledge of Payment Processing Reference Architecture and the role of each component at a high-level
- Thorough knowledge of various stages in payment value chain is a must from initiation to clearing and settlement
- Through knowledge in reconciliation of transactions at every stage
- Proficiency in Account Summary, Account Activity Details, Customer Credit and Debit statements
- Sound understanding of ISO 20022 and Nacha standards
Rail specific must have skills:
ACH:
- Through understanding of the NACHA file format
- Thorough understanding of the various business and regulatory rules applicable for ACH Operating Guidelines and Operating rules as published by Nacha and its application for various use cases for ACH payments for direct debit, credit transfer, returns and notice of changes
- Sound knowledge of various SEC codes
- Prior experience in construction of ACH files
- Knowledge of processing and tracking returns and notice of changes through ACH for payments made using other rails
- Knowledge of reconciliation of ACH transactions for both incoming and outgoing
FedWire Funds, CHIPS, RTP, FedNow:
- End-to-End message flows for value and non-value outgoing and incoming messages, including Request for Payments and Drawdowns
- Through understanding of various status codes applicable to pacs.002
- Must be knowledgeable about ISO 20022 schemas and must know the anatomy of an ISO 20022 message
- Good understanding of required optional and conditional data elements within the given ISO 20022 message construct for each of the above-mentioned rails
- Thorough understanding of XML and XSDs
CBPR+
- Sound understanding of Correspondent Banking
- Conceptual understanding of RMA
- Sound understanding of Nostro and Vostro accounts
- Thorough understanding of Payment Chaining
- Must have knowledge of fully structured, unstructured and hybrid addresses and remittance information
Nice to have skills:
- Understanding of API framework
- Understanding of IBM MQ Series and associated utilities
- Understanding of Kafka and gRPC
- Prior experience with JSONs
- Prior experience in using POSTMAN
- Prior hands-on experience with FedLine Advantage
- Prior experience in defining Operating and Governance models
